Dance Classes for ages 5 - Adult
Descriptions, schedule, and attire for Kindergarten through adult
Ballet - Ballet is the foundation for any discipline of dance. From our youngest dancers to our eldest ones, Gotta Dance stresses the importance of partaking in the study of ballet. We impart grace, elegance and poise to all dancers who choose to explore this gracious form of movement. Above all, educators at Gotta Dance work on improving the technique of students to improve strength, coordination, flexibility, and movement fluidity.
Drawing from classical tradition, our ballet classes begin with barre exercises. This work helps to develop a dancer’s movement vocabulary and technical toolbox. We bring these moments to life through dynamic center and across the floor work.
Tap classes allow students to make music with their feet! This fun and rhythmically based class is always upbeat and always popular. Gotta Dance has designed a tap syllabus that focuses on developing coordination, rhythmic dexterity and musicality in a fun and upbeat environment. Our tap classes consist of a warm-up followed by lessons in technique and advanced combinations. The pairing of rhythmic articulation with music helps dancers to develop better precision and technical proficiency. Our educators draw predominantly from codified movements and techniques that will be present in any tap class across the country. This allows students to easily utilize these skills in a school musical or other dance opportunities.
Jazz classes teach the traditional technique to popular pop music. Gotta Dance classes offer the perfect combination of technique and skill building. We train our educators in building a dancer’s repertoire through exciting high-energy choreography. These classes also offer students the chance to warm-up, stretch and, most noteworthy, learn rhythmically complex movement combinations.
We expose dancers to age appropriate styles of popular dance, also while learning from our professionally designed syllabus. We pride ourselves in offering the cutting edge of contemporary styles of jazz dance. As a result, your dancer will love to bring their new moves home to share with friends and family.
Hip Hop class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. From R&B and House to Club and Pop, Hip Hop classes utilize upbeat music from various genres, in addition to the latest Hip Hop hits. The resulting outcome is an energetic class that not only teaches you Hip Hop movements and technique, but also instills rhythm and precision in your muscle memory.
WHY A DRESS CODE?
Why does it matter? In classical ballet, dancers are asked to wear specific attire, often the same color and in a very uniform manner with their hair pulled back in ballet bun. The number one reason for this is to prevent distraction in the classroom. The dancer/teacher are able to focus and see clearly the technical and artistic things that they are working on. The second reason for a dress code is discipline. There is something mentally that happens when a person prepares physically for something. They focus, they take it seriously and the mental preparation sets you up for physical success in the classroom.
